Paralysis

Its dark. I can't move. My whole body is paralyzed. Lying flat on my back, the ceiling fan spins with a hypnotizing whooping sound as I stare motionless through a dark bedroom. I'm trying to scream but I don't make any noise. I try to nudge my wife lying next to me so that maybe she can wake me up. I'm in a trance, still asleep, but my eyes are wide open.

Far away I'm lying in an army bunk within a large warehouse type building. Outside the building stands a wall. Outside the wall a huge explosion rocks the warehouse and the very earth that we walk on.

MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT!

I've seen enough, I don't want to see anymore. I don't want to think of them anymore, their faces, the frightened ones. All they wanted to do was be safe.

I'm awake now. She woke me up, "are you ok?", she asks.

"I'm ok", as I roll over to go back to sleep, but I don't really.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS and all those for which the war still rages within.

Paralysis

I wish all those who are fighting those demons that didn't stay behind when they come home so much good thoughts.  I hope that each and every soldier, sailor, marine and airman who is faced fighting those demons aren't fighting them alone and has someone who can help them through it, as well as letting their family in to help them battle with them.

About Third Base
Michael T. "Nuf Ced" McGreevy was the leader of the most vocal fans of the Boston Americans (now the Boston Red Sox), today known as the "Royal Rooters". McGreevey owned the Third Base Saloon, which got its name because, like third base, it was the last stop before home. His saloon was Boston's original sports bar - it was decorated in a baseball theme, with pictures of the players, and a scoreboard on the outside wall. His nickname "Nuf Ced" was given to him because that was what he usually shouted to end barroom disputes, usually about the Boston Americans and the Boston Braves.
